We're expecting baby No. 2, which of course means carseat No. 2. Planning to put the new baby in the center, if possible, with DS moved to a side position. (baby will be in a Graco Snugride, DS in an Evenflo Odyssey).

If that doesn't work, we'll have one on each side, with the center empty.

Here's my problem: We're driving a 1999 Honda Accord, which did not have tether hooks already for carseats (you know, the ones that attach to the buckle thing on the back of convertible car seats).

We had one installed in the center position, no problem. But it doesn't look like there's room to put them on the side seats -- the speakers are in the space where tether hooks would logically go.

Anybody else ever dealt with this? Unfortunately, we're not in a position to buy a new car at this point, but I don't know that I would feel comfortable with DS's carseat without securing it in the back.

I have a 1995 Honda Accord. You probably won't be able to install a car seat in the middle....we have ours on either side--they are just too wide to fit next to each other. We have had tether hooks intalled on both sides. It can be done. DH says they are not in front of or behind but rather to the side of our speakers.

We have a 2001 Accord. Ours came with the tether hooks already installed, but I think the body style is the same as yours. Our tether hooks are behind the speakers - the strap goes over the speaker and then hooks on. Maybe that is where yours would go?

Have you called a Honda dealer to ask? I wanted to add also that if you have that pull down arm rest in the middle of your backseat, that you shouldn't be putting the carseat there anyway.

But I would check with the dealer to see what they recommend.
