Alexis,

I read on one of your other posts that you are familiar with the 2 vessel umbilical cord. Did you have a child with one?

The reason I ask is my daughter had that. It was the only thing wrong with her and my doctor said it was not the cause of her death. I’ve never heard of anyone else ever having one.

Susan... Lurking... Someone on my board had a child with a two vessel cord and I am darned if I can remember who it is. But if you go to BB Jan-June 2000 and post, we are such a chatty group, I know that they will respond to you and give you all the information they have.

Yes, my daughter who passed away in August had a 2 vessel cord. I was told that the 2 vessel cord itself only causes problems with growth. IGUR is very common with these. But the 2 vessel cord also is a "marker" for other defects such as heart defects (which is what our daughter died from), spinal defects, kidney problems and a few others. I was told that as much as 50 percent of the time a 2 vessel cord is linked with other problems.

Was your daughter small when she was born? Had she been checked for defects such as the heart? I am so sorry for your loss.
