I was wondering if a baby bjorn is really worth the $$. I have a cheeper walmart carrier from DD but I didn't use it much and it was really hard to get on, so I was wondering if you hink the baby bjorn is that much better?
Thanks for your input! :)

I love my baby bjorn. It was comfortable and I thought it was quite easy to get on and off and put baby in and get her out. It was a lifesaver when I flew alone. I put baby in the bjorn and pushed all of our stuff in the stroller.
I never did get the hang of it for nursing though.

I loved it but now that my DS is getting bigger, I'm wondering if I should have bought a mayawrap. My DS is 20 pounds and only has 5 more to go before he can't fit the carrier. I was told about mayawraps after I purchased the Bjorn. I'm honestly thinking about buying a maya now because DS still likes to be carried when we are out.

It was for us. We bought a Kelty Kids Elite carrier to carry DS after he outgrew the Bjorn (we wanted to use the Kelty for more things and it is more versitile than a wrap for us... for outdoor activities, etc.).
We have passed ours to two people already and plan on using it again so the $ has been well spent so far. :)
If you like wraps, I've heard awesome things about Maya wraps too.

Absolutely. We bought a 30$ one first, and it was a pain ***** to get on, and it was hard on my back. Then my friend gave me a Baby Bjorn, and I instantly fell in love with it. And my baby loved it too. He still does, but he doesn't fit in it anymore. And when I put it on, I heard a sigh of relief coming from my back. :D
I let my friend in England use it, and she did not want to give it back.
I would buy them again and again, even if they were 200$, it would still be worth it.

We've tried 3 front carriers and Baby Bjorn was the best by far. Easier to use and the most comfortable for the parent. :)

I had two carriers that were given to us with our second child. They were difficult to use, and not mention, not very comfortable for me or the baby.
I decided to get the Baby Bjorn because of all the rave reviews. I wasn't too fond of the price, so I decided to check out ebay and purchased one.
I agree that it is very easy to use and it is comfortable for me and soothing for Vanessa (she always falls alseep in it :)).

We got a lot of use out of our Baby Bjorn, for a while. When DS was tiny, it was perfect for both DH and me, but as he got bigger, I found it more uncomfortable to use -- hurt my back. DH loved it though, and we used it till he outgrew it.
We're definitely going to use it with this one, but I'm also getting a Maya wrap, which I've heard might be easier on my back as the baby gets bigger.

It is okay, but they have been shown to cause bow leggedness if used frequently. I like my sling much better - more comfy for me and I dont have to worry about the bow leggedness. Ane likes it much better as well. :)

I really like ours. Last time around we had a cheaper version (snuggli, I think) and it was a real pain to use, so I never used it. This time we got the Bjorn and I love it. I think it's worth the extra money ....
DS had problems from birth which meant he couldn't lie on his back... the baby bjorn was a life-saver!!! He was in it all the time and it was so easy to put on one-handed whilst holding him at the same time if needed, or from carseat to BB when out shopping :)

Just curious - I've never seen this information anywhere except on sling web store sites. Do you know where they get the information from? I could believe that it might be true, but I would think there would be some published study or something, somewhere, that they could point to. There certainly are enough people using the Bjorn and other carriers to make up a study.

I got the information from 2 different pediatricians (one in So VA and one in MD). Dont know where they heard it though....

Loved it! Kaitlyn is too heavy for me to carry in it anymore. She is still in the allowable weight but my back can't take it. I didn't get it until I had my second and in hind sight wish I had it with my first. It was great for going to the park. It left my hands free to help Victoria in and out of things. I HIGHLY recommend it!

Anything with a "seat" (such as a johny jumper, exersaucer, baby bjorn, etc.) can cause problems with baby's hips if used for REALLY long periods of time. But, from what I'd understand, you'd have to put your child in it for hours a day for months at a time to cause any permanent damage.
All babies are bowlegged to some extent and outgrow it.

I used one with DS #1 and it was a god send..don't knowhow I would have survived with out it. DS #1 hated slings so I had no luck with them.
There is a new version of the Baby Bjorn out now and it includes a lumbar (lower back) support so to take off some of the pressure from the shoulder area etc. I bought one of the new ones and like it so far. Have only used it 2 times with baby #2.
