We have a family member that wants to give us the Babyjogger 2 stroller. I have a couple reservations about it. Like for instance, it doesn't recline and is way too big for shopping centres. So, we'd definately need to get another stroller. It doesn't recline and doesn't have a front tray for the baby. But I'm figuring since it's free, that we really shouldn't pass it up. It'll be great for some big parks that we have and long walks.

Definitely take it if it's free. It can be a little bulky for crowded stores, but it's great for outdoor use, and actually can fold up more compactly than a regular stroller in the trunk of a car (the wheels come off and reattach easily). You can always get a second stroller for malls and stuff if you prefer it.
I love ours. Our street is so roughly paved that we couldn't use our regular stroller out there, but the Baby Jogger handles it just fine. We pack it on any car trip we take, and I've maneuvered it down crowded Manhattan streets with little difficulty.
One other thing -- the hand brake, at least on our two-year-old model, is not that good. It simply doesn't hold the stroller absolutely rock solid still with a child in it. You have to keep a hold of it or secure it in some way. Our regular stroller's foot brake is a lot more secure.

I love ours! You are right it doesn't travel well but boy is it nice to use!!
*edited to add we use the baby carrier or sling in stores to keep hands on baby as much as possible!

I had a Babyjogger with DS and I think it is the best made jogging stroller out there. I currently have a Dreamer Designs stroller and while it reclines, I don't think it is as well-built and durable as the BJ. Neither one is a mall/around town type stroller though. They are definitely made for jogging or walking outside and will be a pain to take in and out of the car a lot. The BJ handles like a dream and is indestructible. They also retain good resale value when you are finished using it. If you are not a jogger the 16" wheel will be fine for you, rather than the bigger 20" wheel.
I wouldn't say no! :)

We have the Chariot (from the Running Room) and adore it. I've logged well over 2000 running miles on it, trained for a marathon with dd, ran a few races with her in it and it is wonderful! I do'nt know much about the BJ2, but one thing I would recommend DEFINITELY is to buy the all weather shield. You will be able to go out in rain/snow/wind...I know my dd couldn't stand being in the wind and the shield was awesome. I also was able to clip blankets onto it to block the sun out. I know they have a canopy, but it didn't quite cut it with our cutie pie!
Ours doesn't have a tray and I don't really think it's a big deal...dd usually falls asleep pretty quickly from the movement. Plus, I wouldn't put anything in the jogger loose as the older they get, the more likely they'll be sending loose objects flying out of the jogger anyhow! lol
We got a very cheap umbroller-stroller ($30 at Sears, make sure it has a shoulder harness, not just a waist strap for safety) for quick shopping trips, and we also have an Evenflo carriage system that the carseat clicks into for bigger shopping excursions. We don't use any of these with dd at the moment as she is 2 1/2 now and will walk at the stores or use the shopping cart, but we're dusting htem off for the new babe's arrival! You are right, the babyjogger's are too big to take into stores.
