I like to read good relationship stories. Either romance or just life. I also like suspense although not real scary stuff. I am not looking for anything that is real sexual. I just want a good wholesome feel good story. Anyone got suggestions? Thanks.

I just finished reading Barbara Kingsolver's "A Prodigal Summer". It revolves around a SIL/husband's family, lady & boyfriend, and neighbor relationships ... all involving nature. I really like her books.

Ooh, I'm glad to read a good review of "A Prodigal Summer" - it's sitting in my pile of library books. :) This is my first Kingsolver book. I'm looking forward to it.

The Thornbirds is wonderful! It follows a family and their relationships and is so great! In fact i will be reading it again soon because I miss the characters so much!!!

I would suggest Rosamunde Plicher. I really love her stories. Coming Home was one of my favorites from her. It's a love story set during WW II . It will leave you wanting to read more of her books.

Rosamunde Pilcher is a great recommendation for you. I enjoyed her books of short stories.

Also, try Maeve Binchy!

I'm reading The Saving Graces by Patricia Gaffney right now and it might be the sort of book you'd like. I'm only part-way into it, though.

I also recommend anything by Alice Hoffman, Where the Heart Is by Billie Letts, The Joy Luck Club by Amy Tan or Charms for the Easy Life by Kaye Gibbons.

I also recommend "A Prodigal Summer", I've read it three times now and get more out of it every time. I wouldn't exactly call it 'upbeat', tho.

And, ditto on "The Joy Luck Club"...tres bien!
