has anyone had bleeding from placenta in their 12 th week.or is the placenta lying very close to cervix.
Yes, I had bleeding at 13 weeks and was admitted to the hospital. An ultrasound showed that it was complete placenta previa. I am now 16 weeks and another ultrasound showed that it is cleared up. So, it can be a low lying placenta, which would mean taking it easy, no lifting, no vacuuming, etc. Hope this helps.

I had some bleeding around week 9 (I am now week 11) and from what the Dr said, it looks like I had a slight placenta abruption - the placenta pulled away from the uterus wall and caused fluid to build up and bleed. From what I have read this of course is a very serious condition but it usually occurs late in pregnancy. My Dr said this early in pregnancy most abruptions will heal by 20 weeks and lead to a normal pregnancy.
Hope you are feeling better.

Hi all.....I was so reassured to read these three posts.
I am 15 wks 3 days pg and had bleeding at 12 1/2 weeks. It sounds very similar to Robin's situation except my Dr called it a Sub Chorionic (sp) bleed. The placenta is detatching causing a hemmorage behind the placenta. I was put on bedrest for a week then I was told to go about as normal. I have another U/S this Friday. I will be 16 weeks. Hopefully it will be gone.
Thanks for the words. Makes me feel better that others are not going crazy with this issue.

I had a subchorionic bleed at 10 weeks, and a low-lying placenta. An ultrasound at 24 weeks showed vasa previa. This is rare, and is usually undetected. Still, the only reason my baby survived (she's a healthy 4 1/2 month old) is because it was detected. They detect it by doing a transvaginal ultrasound with color doppler. It can be detected after 16 weeks. INSIST on this, even if the placenta moves. Anyone with a low-lying placenta is at risk. It's rare, but if detected, has a 95% survival rate for baby. If undetected, the mortality rate is 75-95%. Please, please insist on this type of ultrasound to check on it; it's not detectable on a regular ultrasound. Good luck!
