Which do you prefer the Maya Wrap Sling or Pouch? Why?

Ooh, I am so excited you posted this! I love to share my experiences with both. I prefer the pouch, hands down. I got the sling when Sophia was a few months old (she's now 10 mos.) and while it is more versatile than the pouch I just couldn't ever really get the hang of it. I spent so much time adjusting and positioning and several times I had it wrong and Sophia almost fell out. It got to the point I never used it and used a stroller instead. (I know MANY women have no problems using the sling; this was just my experience). I did have someone show me in person how to use it when I bought it (from a distributor) but it never did get easier for me.
The Maya company was great and let me exchange the sling for one of their pouches. I LOVE my pouch!! I have gotten more use out of this pouch in the last few weeks than I ever did with the sling. It is simple to use and less bulky than the sling~ it can easily fit into a diaper bag or even a small purse! (Also, less fabric=cooler for me, which is a factor where I live, in the heat of Arizona!) It takes me literally seconds to put my dd in it and I feel totally secure that she will not fall out. With the pouch you can also wear a baby in several positions, like the sling. It totally allows for hands-free movement, even when you are bending over. The one thing you need to make sure of is to get the correct size. I used the guidelines from there site on how to measure and it fits perfectly.
Good luck w/ your decision and let us know what you choose and how it works out for you! :)

I'm exactly the opposite. Couldn't use the pouch at all - especially with a newborn and use the sling with no trouble whatsoever. I always felt like the baby was very loose in the pouch and going to tip out... Haven't watched the video in a while though to try again.
The one bonus of the sling is that if you are nursing and feel like you need to be covered when you NIP, you can use the tail of your sling to cover up a bit.
