Emotional Healing After a Cesarean
If you had an unplanned c-section, tell us how you coped with the emotional aftereffects. Did you feel traumatized; did you feel relieved? Help us create some healing tips for future c-sections moms.

For some mothers, birth by cesarean is a relief; for others, it's a nightmare. If you had an UNPLANNED c-section, please share your thoughts with us. It's our hope to create an article on emotional healing after cesarean birth.

Issues may wish to discuss:

Types of feelings . . . rage, relief, sadness, ambivalence, happiness, bitterness, fear, guilt, joy . . .
Duration of feelings . . . did you feel that way for a few hours, a few months, still feel that way
Did anyone acknowledge your feelings such as spouse, family, care providers, friends? Where they helpful or hurtful?
Healing . . . what did you do to help you heal emotionally? I've gotten some really wonderful feedback for this project (about 60 responses). Would love to have more though. Just think of the educating we can do in trying to make people understand ALL sides of the coin!

Something I'm seeing a lot of is how many women had negative feelings and it started (or was exacerbated) but something a nurse or doctor said. I know I've had that happen a few times. Really makes me angry and sad at the same time. I've also seen where just the right appropriate comment helps mom find healing so much faster. I wish medical people could read these comments - maybe they'd learn something from it.

THANKS!
Mari
