Facts: Slade has a healthy heart. He moves around in there all the time. I feel good most of the time, some troublesome BH contractions, but they are not changing my cervix any. We are going rafting/camping on a very very easy, slow river this weekend with 10 friends who won't let me do any of the work. We have been planning this for months and it should really be a great time. We have five little boys from the ages of 2 1/2 to my big kid at 9 1/2 going... that is how easy this river is.
My Head: Telling me that I am going to go into preterm labor in the middle of nowhere this weekend (I am almost 25 weeks), that then Slade will have no chance of survival because it will take too long to get to the hospital. OR: He will be born and we will find out that he has something else wrong with him. OR, I will fall out of the boat or go swimming and the water will be contaminated with something yukky and I will get an infection and we will lose Slade.... etc etc etc, you name the scenari, I've thought of it.
What the heck is going on? Anyone have any suggestions so I can chill out before the trip?? TIA!

Dear Karen,
I just think it's the heebie jeebies!!! First of all you could go into preterm labor sitting on your couch. Don't worry, nothing is going to get inside and mess with Slade. You said that your cervix is closed right?
Do cell phones work on the river? If so, then you'll be able to reach help and they can chopper you off if something were to happen.
I think you need to go have a great time and try to get in some relaxation before he actually gets here!!!
Have fun

I second the cel phone idea. Put it in a sealed baggie and use it for an emergency. I do believe that even if you are "out of the service zone" you're able to dial 911, still.
Anyway, I think that you're now aware of all the "what if's" that you might have been blissfully unaware of before your precious Luke and his death. We can't live focused on all the what if's, though, because 99.9% of the time you can't do anything about them anyway! And, you could walk outside your door and be standing in your yard and have a driver have a heart attack and run into you! There's a far out "What if!" Unless you have specific medical restrictions this time around, or very specific concerns, I would try not to worry about things too much.
Big hugs and have loads of fun!

Have you talked to your doctor about your concerns? My doctor put me on a strict no-travel after 24 weeks (which has been tough, because I normally travel quite a bit in the summer), because I'm classified as high risk. She said that she was being overly cautious in doing so, but that considering my history (loss at beginning of third trimester), she thought that was the safest way to handle things. I know that your circumstances are different, but I'd still touch base with your doctor about it before you go. And if s/he clears you, and tells you not to worry about it, then I'm sure it will be absolutely fine!

You have major mommie brain! I am sure that everything will be fine, just review your history of Slade's pregnancy, how well things have went, how well Slade is doing, and try to focus on that! I know, easier said than done!!
Hope you have fun,
Bea
Oh yea, isn't there a park area that you could call about the river to see if there are any high levels of toxins? That could ease your mind a bit too, and familierize yourself where the nearest park offices/people areas are, then you will have an easier time finding people if you need them.
